Block Parties
The Aldermen’s office Executive Administrator is able to set up a date for your block to have a Block Party. A Block Party consists of a group of neighbors wishing to block off their street for a “get-together party”.
Information you will need:
- Date and time you wish to block the street (Time can be anytime between 9am and dusk.)
- The name of the street that is to be blocked off, from what corner to what corner (Intersecting street or streets).
- Name, address and daytime telephone number of the person requesting the Block Party.
- If the barricades are to be dropped off and picked up at an address other than that of the requester, the name, address and daytime telephone number of that person is also requested.
- The person(s) receiving the barricades are responsible for placing them before the party and removing them by dusk. They are also responsible for keeping the barricades in good condition, until they are picked up by our City Street Department.
There is no charge for the booking of a Block Party. We request that you call the office (630) 844-3619 about four (4) weeks before you wish to have your party to reserve your date.
Then you must fill out a Block Party Application and send it to the Aldermen’s Office, 44 E. Downer Pl., Aurora, IL 60507, ATTN: Sandra to confirm your request. A permit will be sent to you confirming your date. It will also be sent to the City Street Department for delivery of the barricades on the Friday before your party and pick up on the following Monday. It will be sent to the Police and Fire Departments so they are aware your street will be blocked off in case of an emergency. If the barricades are not delivered by 3pm on the Friday before your party, you should call the City Street Department (630) 801-5240 to make sure they are going to be delivered.
