Aurora’s Farmers Market 2012
Celebrating our 100th year at a NEW LOCATION!
Eat Fresh, Buy Local, and Be Well at Three Great Markets!
For our 100th year, Aurora’s Farmers Market looks forward to welcoming new customers and greeting our long-time supporters at a new location—Wilder Promenade—350 N. River Street (the former Aurora Police headquarters). Join our centennial year celebrations for weekly special events, special guest visitors, family activities, delectable fresh farm products and much more.
Come shop for local produce and farm products in downtown Aurora every Saturday; and on the Far East and West sides of the City each Wednesday. Discover new treats, sample delicious fresh produce and connect with neighbors.
We’re a “farm-fresh historic tradition” which proudly celebrates our heritage. Come taste the difference that’s locally grown and get to know our farm vendors. Maple Park-based Theis Farms and Wiltse’s Farm Produce have participated in the Aurora Farmers Market since its inception in 1912.
Aside from seasonal fruits and vegetables, Aurora’s Farmers Market showcases home-baked goods, fresh cut flowers, gourmet wines and cheeses; lawn ornaments; arts and crafts; a variety of cooking and kitchen items; food demonstrations featuring local chefs; blood pressure checks; and a wide array of entertainment from local artists.
To celebrate the market’s centennial milestone, patrons are encouraged to participate in our Healthy Living Initiative with special themed programs during the downtown markets:
- First Week of the Month: Green Initiatives
- Second Week of the Month: Nutrition
- Third Week of the Month: Active Living/Healthy Lifestyles
- Fourth Week of the Month: Wellness Checks
Children in pre-school through fifth grade can learn and play together in the Sprouts program on nutrition during each downtown market in June, July and August. They can come for the fun and discover that eating fresh is a great start to every healthy day!
Thanks to the Kane County Fit for Kids Founders Consortium and Link Up Illinois, LINK/EBT cards are accepted at the downtown market to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables to encourage healthier eating.
