Independence Day Parade

When: Wednesday, July 4, 9:15 a.m.

Where: Downtown Aurora

The Independence Day event will start with a patriotic ceremony at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 4 outside the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd. The parade will step off at 10 a.m. at the corner of Benton and River streets, marching east to Broadway Avenue, north to Galena Boulevard, west to Hoyt Place, south to Downer Place and conclude heading west to Middle Avenue. The event is sponsored by the Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84 in partnership with the City of Aurora. For more information, visit www.post84.com.

Independence Day Fireworks

Co-Sponsored with the Village of North Aurora

When: Wednesday, July 4, 5 to 10 p.m.

Where: Illinois Math & Science Academy, 1500 W. Sullivan Road

The celebration continues with a night of family fun, entertainment, live music and culminating with an impressive fireworks display, which is scheduled to start around 9:30 p.m. More details coming soon.

  • 6 to 9 p.m. – Food vendors, Moonwalks, live entertainment
  • 6 to 7 p.m. – Circus Boy
  • 7 to 8 p.m. – Second Time Around
  • 8 to 8:15 p.m. – Patriotic Ceremony
  • 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. – American Legion Post 84 Band
  • 9:30 p.m. – Fireworks

Free shuttles to fireworks

Free shuttle buses will run continuously from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and resume after the fireworks until all passengers are returned to parking lots, with the latest departure at approximately 11:15 p.m. Residents may bring lawn chairs and small handheld coolers. Large coolers, alcohol and smoking will be prohibited on buses.

Free fireworks parking

Parking near the site is limited. Residents are advised to arrive early or use the free shuttle bus service. Edgelawn Drive will be closed from Birch Street to Sullivan Road for the evening’s activities. Police will be directing traffic and may limit vehicle turns on Edgelawn Drive, Randall Road, Sullivan Road and Indian Trail Road.
