Mission

To position Aurora as a premiere community for people to live, work, and play by informing and educating residents, businesses, and other interested parties about city services, policies, initiatives, and events through effective utilization of mainstream media, social media, the city’s cable access channel, and other communications tools.

Staff

Dan Ferrelli

Dan Ferrelli was hired as the Director of Media Relations for the Aurora Police Department in June, 1996. He took over as Director of Public Information for the City of Aurora in September, 2009.

Dan’s reputation as a public information professional is known across the United States. His work has garnered several national awards and his efforts have been the subject of articles that have appeared in several trade publications. Aside from his work with the city, he teaches media relations and public information practices to police and fire officials across Illinois through the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy in Glen Ellyn, IL. He is a member of both the National Information Officers Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police Public Information Officer Section.

An Aurora native, Dan has over 30 years of professional communications experience. He worked for over 13 years at various Chicagoland radio stations as an on-air talent, program director, and news and sports reporter. Prior to joining the Aurora Police, he was co-owner of a professional video production company that specialized in industrial and corporate accounts.

Kevin Stahr

Kevin Stahr joined Aurora’s Public Information Division in August, 2010, after spending the past 11 years working for Suburban Life Publications. He started as a news reporter covering municipal government for several towns, most notably Downers Grove. His beats included covering City Council meetings, the police and fire departments, and working with City government staff on a regular basis.

In 2006, he was promoted to news editor, where he oversaw a team of reporters to publish seven different newspapers in Cook and DuPage counties. He was also part of the group that helped with the redesign of the company’s newspaper, a key member in managing the paper’s website and helped launch social media accounts to interact with readers.

Kevin is uniquely qualified to help the Public Information Division exceed its mission of positioning Aurora as a premiere community for people to live, work and play.

Scott Sauber

Scott Sauber joined the City of Aurora’s ACTV in July 2006, bringing nearly 30 years of television production experience working in a wide variety of disciplines. He honed his production skills at Multimedia Cablevision of Lisle, Centel Cable Television, and Jones Intercable as master control operator, editor, producer, and director. While at Jones, Scott was promoted to Advertising Production Manager where he directed the activities of three video production departments in support of a $10 million sales budget. Scott maintained his supervisory duties after AT&T Broadband and Comcast assumed control of the company. He also taught classes in television production at the Illinois Center for Broadcasting.

Aurora Community Television has garnered several national awards for their productions that highlight various city events and services.

Ron Pringle

Ron Pringle has served as the City of Aurora’s Web Developer since August, 2004 when he joined the City’s MIS Division. Prior to joining the City staff, Ron enjoyed a long and varied career in the publishing and advertising industries as an Art and Creative Director. Ron is responsible for all aspects of the city’s web site, including design, content, programming and database management. Ron was transferred to the Public Information Division and now serves as Aurora’s Online Services Coordinator.

Ron has served on the National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW) Board of Directors as Lakes Region Director since 2006 and as the organization’s President from 2008 - 2011. Ron has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Illinois State University.

The City of Aurora web site earned a Pinnacle Award from the National Association of Government Webmasters for Excellence in Programming in 2006.
