Description	Book entitled "The Patriotism of Illinois" (Volume I of two) "A Record of the Civil and Military History of the State in the War For The Union, with a history of the campaigns in which Illinois Soldiers have been conspicuous, sketches of distinguished officers, and the roll of the illustrious Dead, movements of the Sanitary and Christian Commissions." Author: T.M. Eddy, D.D., Editor of the N.W. Christian Advocate Illustrated with steel engravings of eminent men. Published in 1865 by Clarke & Co., Publishers 608 pages The book belonged to Fred Otis White, whose signature may be found on the fly leaf. White was a founding member of the Soldier's Monument Association. He served on the building committee and helped raise funds to erect the GAR hall. During the Civil War White served as a sergeant in the Thirty-sixth Regiment Illinois Volunteer Cavalry, Company A. White was elected Mayor of Aurora in 1885~1886 (terms lasted for one year only.)
