Abstract GAR Memorial Association hosted an event on July 12, 1987 in which they opened a time capsule box that was set into the cornerstone of GAR Hall on July 4, 1877 by the original GAR members. The 1987 opening of the time capsule was a small but elaborate affair involving several Civil War Reenactor Regiments from as far as Texas and Florida with working cannon. A band played patriotic American songs and all those involved were in period dress/uniform; even some of the crowd donned period dress.
After the time capsule ceremony the dvd includes a video of Sarah Ratz and Jan Steiegleiter taking an informal tour of GAR Hall and showing most of the GAR collection as it was in 1987.
