Aurora Community Television Channel 10/ACTV

Mission Statement

To provide equal and fair access to current communications and information acquisition technology to the residents and organizations of Aurora.

Background and Purpose

Aurora Community Television is the city’s public access television station. Area residents can register for classes to learn all aspects of producing a television program.

They will learn how to use the facility’s portable digital video cameras to tape a program on location, and how to use three-camera studio setup and equipment in the main control room to video tape a show. Students then learn how to edit the tape into a program ready for broadcast on Channel 10. Programs can be on almost any subject imaginable.

Channel 10 is available to the more than 38,300 Comcast cable subscribers in Aurora, North Aurora, Montgomery, Oswego, and Bristol. ACTV broadcasts a variety of programs Monday through Saturday from midmorning to late night. Most programs are the work of certified area producers while some are produced by the ACTV staff. Others are submitted to the station by producers from outside the area or are professionally done by agencies such as the U.S. Army and Air Force. When programs are not being broadcast on Channel 10, a bulletin board displays messages of general interest.

Any nonprofit organization can use the bulletin board to advertise its events and programs. Items can be faxed to the station or brought to the studio at 5 E. Downer Place, Suite T on the Riverwalk next to Bambina’s Restaurant.
