The Aurora Police Department will be presenting a Crime Free Multi-Housing seminar in Spanish on Saturday, January 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Community Room at Aurora Police Headquarters, 1200 East Indian Trail Road.
Registration closes 5 days prior to the class. NO WALK-INS ALLOWED. To register, please call (630) 256-3770 or send an email and include the following information:
- Name
- Address
- Phone Number
- Email Address
- Type of Property owned
- Addresses of all rental properties
The CFMH program was developed to assist property owners/managers in managing their properties. It emphasizes cooperation among property owners, tenants, and the City of Aurora to help neighborhoods fight crime and disorder. It is our belief that by working together, we can significantly reduce the negative impact crime has on our city.
The program includes an eight-hour seminar. The topics covered include:
- Human Rights and Fair Housing
- Fire Safety
- Evictions and Court Proceedings
- Applicant Screening
- Licensing and Inspections
- Nuisance Abatement
- Section 8 and Public Housing
- Rental Agreements
- Gang Awareness
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
In addition to the topics presented, participants receive a printed manual to use as a reference guide. The manual covers topics that due to time considerations, are not presented in the seminar. It is our hope that the manual, along with other information provided, will become part of how managers and property owners manage their properties.
If you have any questions regarding the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program, contact Officer Gary Wrobel at (630) 256-5482.
