Art Exhibit Celebrates 175 Years of Aurora History

The Aurora Public Art Commission joins Aurora’s 175th anniversary celebration with its latest Art at City Hall exhibit that is on public display now.

“Aurora in Pictures, 175 years” features more than 120 photographs and other images of Aurora from its earliest years, such as streetscapes depicting the construction of the downtown and bridges, through the present. The exhibit also focuses on several themes – land, water, energy, transportation and work – and how these elements influenced the growth and character of the City throughout the years.

The exhibit is posted on all five floors of City Hall, 44 E. Downer Place and will be on display from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday through Jan. 11, 2013.

The Aurora Public Art Commission is a civic organization dedicated to the preservation of public art in all of its forms. For more information on the Commission or the gallery, visit the City’s website or call the Customer Service Center at 630-256-INFO.
