Aurora Urges Participation in Statewide Tornado Drill

The City of Aurora is urging residents, business owners, and other organizations to take part in the State of Illinois’ annual tornado drill on Tuesday, Mar. 6. The drill coincides with Aurora’s regular monthly test of the City’s outdoor warning sirens.

Once the warning sirens are activated at 10 a.m., participants should begin their drills and move to their pre-designated areas for shelter in the event of a tornado. They should also use the drill as an opportunity to review and refine their severe weather safety plans and procedures including making sure they have a working weather radio and ways to check on elderly or disabled family members, neighbors, and friends. No “all-clear” signal will be given.

Aurora schools, businesses, and other organizations are asked to complete a short participation report form and submit it to the Emergency Management Office. The form can be obtained by calling Mark Flaherty, Aurora EMA Coordinator, at 630-256-5800 or emailing a request to mflaherty@aurora-il.org
