Aurora Police Name Co-Employees of the Month
Three Aurora Police officers are sharing February Employee of the Month honors for their actions when they responded to a domestic battery and sexual assault last month.
Officers Jonathan Olsen, Jason Woolsey, and David Bemer responded to the call at a Northeast side apartment complex where they were met by a man who said he had been victimized in one of the apartments by another man who held a gun to his head and threatened him.
When the officers went to the apartment they spoke with a female through the door who originally refused to come out and told the officers to go away. She suddenly exited the apartment and confirmed to the officers that her former boyfriend was inside with a gun, along with her young daughter. The officers then engaged in intense dialogue with the offender who at first refused to come out. He eventually surrendered but later resisted being taken into custody. Once they were able to gain control of the suspect, they found a large amount of cash on him along with cocaine and marijuana. A handgun was later recovered from the apartment.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect bound and sexually assaulted the woman after the man who originally met the officers at the apartment complex was able to escape. The suspect was charged with a litany of felony crimes.
Officer Olsen has been with the Aurora Police since 2006 while Officers Woolsey and Bemer both joined the department in 2007.
