Aurora Festival Funding Application Deadline Set

The City of Aurora is accepting applications to provide festival and special event funding to neighborhood and community groups. Completed applications must be submitted to the Community Services Department by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Applications and guidelines are available at the Community Services Department at the Fred Rodgers Community Center, 501 College Ave., Suite 304; by calling 630-256-3400; or visiting the City’s website, clicking the “City Events” tab and selecting “Permits and Applications” (or by clicking here).

The City supports celebrations of the of the local community and culture by providing festival and special event funding to non-profit, neighborhood and community groups.

Each year, groups hold dozens of events – Motorcycle Sunday, National Night Out, Alley Art Fest and Soul Fest to name a few – throughout the City to celebrate Aurora’s unique heritage, diversity and character.

The Neighborhood Festival Funding program is administered by the Community Services Department. Funding for the program is limited to $15,000. Sixteen events were funded in 2011. Qualified applicants receive financial assistance based on the established guidelines to aid in the payment of support service and equipment expenses.

Recommendations of grant awards are scheduled to be presented to the Finance Committee Tuesday, Feb. 28 and the Aurora City Council Tuesday, March 13.
