Public Announcement: Draft Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice Available for Review and Public Comment

The City of Aurora, in cooperation with the City of Elgin and the County of Kane, has recently completed a draft Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice. This document is part of the fair housing planning required of communities that receive certain funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This report identifies specific barriers to fair housing and proposes recommendations for addressing these items. As an entitlement community, the City of Aurora, IL receives funding through the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) from HUD.

Please be advised that effective February 3, 2012, the draft Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice will be available for review and public comment at the following locations: City of Aurora Neighborhood Redevelopment Division, 51 E. Galena Blvd, Aurora, IL; Library - Main, 1 E. Benton, Aurora, IL; Library–Eola, 555 S. Eola Rd, Aurora, IL; Library-West, 233 S. Constitution Dr, Aurora, IL; and on the City of Aurora website.

Upon advance request, the City will provide for translation services to meet the needs of non-English speaking residents. The City will also take whatever actions are appropriate to serve the needs of persons with disabilities.
