Absentee Voting

Who may vote absentee?

  1. A qualified voter who expects to be absent from the city or country on Election Day.
  2. A student who will be away from home on Election Day.
  3. Individuals in military service and their family members.
  4. Disabled persons.
  5. Individuals following religious observances.
  6. Judges of election working out-of-precinct.
  7. Persons performing election duties for an election authority.

You may request an application for an absentee ballot by mail not more than 40 nor less than 5 days prior to the election. You should submit your request(s) in sufficient time to assure our receipt of your ballot by election day.

You may not vote absentee if you registered by a mail-in form. You must vote in person the first time.

A permanently disabled voter may apply for a “Disabled Voter’s Card”. A student at college may apply for an “Application for Absent Student” form. More information is available from the Election Commission office, (630) 897-4030.
