Statewide Tornado Drill
The City of Aurora is urging residents, business owners, and other organizations to take part in the State of Illinois’ annual tornado drill on Tuesday, Mar. 6. The drill coincides with Aurora’s regular monthly test of the City’s outdoor warning sirens.

Severe Weather Spotter Training

Rain Barrel Program Informational Meeting
Aurora residents can learn about rain barrels, rain gardens and other eco-friendly techniques at this Aurora Public Library program. The Conservation Foundation’s Jim Kleinwachter will be speaking from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21 at the Eola Library Branch, 555 Eola Road.

Electronics Recycling
Last year, residents on average turned in about 30,000 pounds of unwanted electronics at each collection event. Take advantage of this free program, this time in downtown Aurora. For a complete list of accepted items, call 630-256-INFO or visit the City's website. Vintage Tech Recyclers also offers permanent collection sites throughout the year at Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 4100 Fox Valley Center, and the Community Thrift Store, 315 E. Indian Trail Road.

Waubonsee in Aurora: A Shared History
Tying in with the City's 175th anniversary celebration, the night will start with a new exhibit on the community college's presence in Aurora since 1966. At 7 p.m., the discussion will shift to other aspects of Aurora's history such as the Weaver's Loom, the story of Pigeon Hill and the community's Hungarian-Romanian immigrant population.

Rain Barrel Pickup
Residents who pre-ordered rain barrels can pick them up on Saturday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Oakhurst Forest Preserve, 1850 5th Ave. at the garden lots. This pickup is only for pre-ordered rain barrels. No rain barrels will be available to purchase at this pickup.
