Entering into a Fire Lane Contract with the City of Aurora allows city personnel (Police and Fire) to go onto private property to issue tickets to the vehicle for violations of the Fire Lane codes. The Contract has an annual cost of $50 and expires April 30th each year.

In order to have a Fire Lane Contract some conditions must be met and the Fire Prevention Bureau notified so the site can be inspected for compliance. Following are some of the conditions, call the Fire Prevention Bureau for more detail at (630) 256-4130.

  • Site Map showing location of Fire Lane Signs and Fire Hydrants.
  • Completed Fire Lane Contract Application and Fire Lane Contract.
  • Fire Lane Sign: Minimum sign size of 12" X 18". Red letters. Must state “FIRE LANE” “NO PARKING ANYTIME” “$50 FINE” (International No Parking graphic may be used).
  • Signs required at start and end of each Fire Lane that is non-contiguous.
  • Additional signs will be required for visibility. Signs must not be more than 150' apart.
  • Curbs or edge of pavement to be painted red for length of fire lane.
  • Fire Hydrants to have curbs painted yellow or a sign on post “Fire Hydrant.”
