Aurora Public Library
The Aurora Public Library has been serving the public since 1881 when it was established by city ordinance as a tax-supported institution.
The library consists of the Main Library, two branch libraries and the Bookmobile:
- The current main library building was erected in 1904 through a gift from Andrew Carnegie. In 1969, the building was completely remodeled and refurbished.
- In 2003, the library purchased a new bookmobile to replace the one in use to continue serving patrons at over 28 stops throughout the city.
- In 1993, the Eola Road Branch opened to the public on the east side of the city. In 2003, the building was expanded from 14,000 square feet to 27,000 square feet. The Eola Road Branch library is in a building shared with the Fox Valley Park District.
- In 1998, the West Branch opened to the public on the west side of the city with 20,000 square feet. The West Branch library is housed in a building shared with Washington Middle School.
Library Services and Collections include:

- Public Access Computers for online research and word processing
- In-person and online (email and chat) Reference and Reader Services
- Storytimes, Lap-sits, Craft and other Children’s programming
- Book Discussions and other programs for Adults and Teens
- Summer Reading Program for Kids, Teens and Adults
- Outreach Services to Nursing Homes, Elementary Schools and others
- Genealogy and Local History materials, training and assistance
- Inter-Library Loan lending privileges
