Phillips Park Zoo
Our Mission
To provide a safe environment where students and visitors can gain a better understanding of the animal world and its environment through recreation and education, as well as providing professional care for the animals housed at the Zoo, while promoting a positive image of the zoo and surrounding park, enhancing the quality of life.
Admission is free!
Zoo Hours
Phillips Park Zoo is open year round 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, but closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
The Reptile Building hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
Zoo Rules
- No dogs or other pets allowed. Pets are a threat to the safety and well being of the animals.
- No skateboards, roller blades, scooters, or bicycles allowed in the zoo. This is for the safety of the zoo visitors.
- No basketballs, soccer balls, baseballs, balloons, etc. allowed in the zoo. These distractions may disturb or harm the animals.
- Littering and throwing items into animal enclosures is strictly prohibited. Litter and garbage should be placed into proper receptacles.
- Feeding the zoo animals is strictly prohibited. Zoo animals are on a specific diet and feeding them may be harmful to their health.
- Teasing and antagonizing the zoo animals in any way, as well as petting of the animals, is not allowed. Many of the animals may bite and are dangerous.
Zoo Tours and Groups
Tours of the Zoo are offered, to school and scouting groups, during the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. All tours must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance. Self-guided group tours are encouraged, though to avoid scheduling conflicts with other large groups and to make the most of your visit, it is highly recommended that you contact the Zoo Manager, Randy Johnson at the number listed above, to check the tour schedule.
Zoo exhibits include: Bald Eagles, Gray Wolves, Cougars, North American River Otters, Llamas, Goats, a herd of Elk, as well as a wide variety of Reptiles, Swans, Ducks, Turkeys, Peacocks and more.
