Neighborhood Clean-Up Days

Funded by Ward Committees, the Division of Property Standards organizes and coordinates 12-15 neighborhood clean-up events each year.

Always held on Saturday for the convenience of the residents, these events are operated in conjunction with Allied Waste, the City’s Waste Hauling Contractor.

Trash compactor trucks are placed at strategic locations throughout the neighborhood and, free of charge, residents are afforded the opportunity to dispose of old furniture, mattresses, scrap metal, wood, material left over from home remodeling projects, old toys, bicycles, household appliances, and similar items.

All useable metal is recycled.

The following items are prohibited: grass clippings, leaves, dirt, sand, concrete, gravel, chemicals, batteries, tires, and all liquids including paints.

These clean-up days provide a valuable service and a way to complement the City’s outstanding solid waste program.
