Commander Kristen Ziman

Commander Kristen Ziman coordinates the delivery of police service to the city of Aurora, which encompasses Kane, DuPage, Kendall and Will Counties.

Born and raised in Aurora, Commander Ziman graduated from West Aurora High School. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Aurora University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Boston University.

Commander Ziman began her career in 1991 as a Police Cadet and became a Police Officer in 1994. As an officer, she worked in Patrol, Community Policing, Field Training, and as an investigator in the Domestic Violence Reduction Unit. She was promoted to Sergeant in 2003 and supervised the patrol division. She was promoted to Lieutenant in 2008 where she worked as the Midnight Shift Watch Commander and Field Training Coordinator. Prior to her promotion to Commander in June of 2010, she served as the Administrative Services Lieutenant overseeing the budget process. Commander Ziman is a member of the Employee Review Board. She also writes a law enforcement-related column in the Aurora Beacon-News, a publication of the Chicago Sun Times.
