The City of Aurora Will Host 3 Farmers Markets
The 2009 Aurora Farmers Market runs Saturdays through October 3rd at the Aurora Transportation Center. Please note the market time has changed to 8 am to Noon and the market will be closed for the 4th of July. Theis Farms and Wiltse’s Farm Produce, both out of Maple Park are the featured local family farms that have been participating since the market start in 1912. Farm fresh produce will also be available from Norway Farms Produce-Sheridan, Blue Freedom Farm Market-Sterling, Wolf Farms-Eau Claire, MI and Tom’s Organic Produce-Oswego along with lawn decorations and bird baths by Lion Concrete, fresh cut flowers, perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, and flats of flowers.
Specialty vendors include Sycamore Winery, Great Harvest Bread, Curds & Whey with over 40 varieties of regional and artisan cheese and dairy products, Montgomery Popcorn, Pampered Chef cookware, Tupperware and Tastefully Simple mixes, in addition to imported coffees, homemade pastries, salsas, jams, jellies, dressings, oils, vinegars, relishes, pickled products, plus habanera sauce, Michigan cherry salsas, BBQ and vinaigrettes. You’ll also find an array of beautifully handcrafted jewelry, soy candles, custom-made outdoor yard games including the bean-bag toss - with your favorite team’s insignia and Wiggle Waggles dog treats, toys and bandanas. Dick’s Mini Donuts will once again be on site, as will Wurst Kitchen with their renowned bratwurst. Provena Mercy’s schedule for free blood pressure screenings has been altered to July through August. Weekly you can visit the Bookmobile from 8:45 to 10:30 am and the Aurora the Fox Valley Marine League who will be raising funds for care packages as part of “Support Our Troops”.
The City of Aurora also hosts 2 weekday markets. The Farmers Market East will be held Tuesdays, July 7th through August 25th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Bethany of Fox Valley United Methodist Church, at the southeast corner of Route 34 and Ridge - opposite the Rush-Copley Heart Institute. Please note the new hours for the Tuesday market. Among the offerings will be farm-fresh produce from Wiltse Farms, Norway Farms, Wolf Farms, a floral selection from the Flower Basket, seasonal wines from Sycamore Winery, a variety of flavors from Montgomery Popcorn, plus homemade salsas, BBQ sauce, jams, jellies, dressings, oils, vinegars, relishes and pickled products, as well as packaged mixes - including gluten free options from Homemade Gourmet, along with items designed to simplify cooking by Pampered Chef cookware and Tupperware. You’ll also find handcrafted jewelry, soy candles, natural soaps, bath products, pot pourri, custom decorative iron pieces and sharpening service by The Cutting Edge Blacksmith, and tie dyed goods, in addition to Wiggle Waggles dog treats, toys and bandanas. Be sure to stop by for Dick’s Mini Donuts and smoothies, or Wurst Kitchen bratwurst, pulled pork and lemon shakeups, or delicious homemade baked goods from members of Bethany of FV UMC.
Farmers Market West will be held Wednesdays, July 8th through August 26th from 2 to 6 pm at West Aurora Shopping Plaza near the Blockbuster on West Galena Boulevard. There you’ll find Wiltse Farm, Theis Farm, Norway Farms, Blue Freedom Farm, Wolf Farms, The Flower Basket, Sycamore Winery, Great Harvest breads, Montgomery Popcorn, and Dick’s Mini Donuts, along with a variety of offerings that will include salsas, jams, jellies, dressings, oils, vinegars, relishes and pickled products, as well as homemade soy candles, hand-crafted jewelry, hand decorated tiki torches, flower pots and candle holders, and Wiggle Waggles dog treats, toys and bandanas.
