The City of Aurora Hosts 3 Farmers Markets

The Aurora Farmers Market, located at the Aurora Transportation Center, runs from 7 am to Noon Saturdays through September 27th. It will once again feature family farms that have been participating since its start in 1912: Theis Farms and Wiltse’s Farm Produce, both out of Maple Park. In addition, you’ll find Norway Farms Produce-Sheridan, Blue Freedom Farm Market-Sterling, Wolf Farms-Eau Claire, MI and Tom’s Organic Produce-Oswego.

Dick’s Mini Donuts will again be on hand with donuts, hot pretzels and smoothies made fresh on site, or for the heartier appetite Wurst Kitchen will be serving up brats straight off the grill. New to the Saturday market are breakfast burritos, tacos, chips and salsa from Cazadores, a large seasonal wine selection from the Sycamore Winery, Great Harvest Bread, soy candles, natural bath products, pot pourri, wind winders, wine charms, bottle art and custom made outdoor yard games including the bean-bag toss with your favorite team’s insignia. You’ll also find over 40 varieties of regional and artisan cheese, along with free-range eggs, butter, jams, jellies, dressings, salsa, relishes, pickled products, oil and vinegars, plus fresh cut flowers, perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, flats of flowers, prairie plants, handcrafted birdhouses, benches, concrete lawn decorations, stepping stones, bird feeders, cooking accessories, gourmet mixes and more! Provena Mercy will be available weekly for free blood pressure screenings and diabetes risk assessments, while The Fox Valley Marine League will be raising funds for care packages as part of the “Support Our Troops”.

The City of Aurora also hosts 2 weekday markets. The Farmers Market East is held Tuesdays, July through August 26th from 11 am to 4 pm at the Bethany of Fox Valley United Methodist Church, at the southeast corner of Route 34 and Ridge - opposite the Rush-Copley Heart Institute. Among the offerings at the Tuesday market are selections from Wiltse Farms, Norway Farms, Wolf Farms, Curds & Whey, Sycamore Winery, Dick’s Mini Donuts, Thomas’s BBQ, Pete’s World Famous Beef & Bison Jerky and Wooten Gourmet, as well as sharpening service and custom decorative iron pieces by The Cutting Edge Blacksmith, in addition to flowers, handmade sterling silver jewelry, natural soaps and bath products, pot pourri, Mia Bella candles, marionettes and Barefoot Books, CD’s, Puppets & Puzzles for children. Rush Copley staff is on hand weekly for free blood pressure checks, health screenings and program information.

Farmers Market West is held Wednesdays, through August 27th from 2 to 6 pm at West Aurora Plaza near the Blockbuster on West Galena Boulevard. There you’ll find Wiltse Farm, Norway Farms, Blue Freedom Farm, Wolf Farms, Garcia’s Flowers, Curds & Whey, Sycamore Winery, Dick’s Mini Donuts, Thomas’s BBQ, Wooten Gourmet, and Pampered Chef cookware, as well as hand-crafted benches, bird houses and more. Provena Mercy staff is now be available weekly for free screenings and diabetes risk assessments.
