To provide the best qualified individuals for open city staff
positions; provide fair and equal opportunity of employment to all
candidates; set policies and procedures for employment activities to
protect employees; and provide guidance and direction in the selection,
promotion and discharge of classified employees where applicable.
Purpose & Oversight
The Aurora Civil Service Commission shall make rules to carry out the
purposes of Chapter 13.5 of the City of Aurora Code of Ordinances, and
for examinations, appointments and removals in accordance with its
provisions. The commission shall have the general direction and
supervision of classified civil service system in the city.
