Looking to make a difference for the animals in our community?
Volunteer with Aurora Animal Control!
Volunteer Requirements
Working with animals is fun and rewarding, but safety is always our top priority for everyone.
Some requirements to volunteer at Aurora Animal Control include:
- Volunteers must be 18 years of age to volunteer.
- Individuals 16-17 years of age may be accepted, provided they are accompanied by a parent/guardian who is an approved volunteer.
- A volunteer application and attending a volunteer orientation must be completed prior to volunteering.
- To help ensure cohesiveness and consistency, volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per month.
Volunteers are expected to follow all general guidelines and procedures included in the volunteer handbook and shared at orientation.
*Please note: We do not accept court-ordered community service hours.

We are always looking for foster families! Animals typically in need of foster are either recovering from illness or surgery, pregnant, in need of more socialization, or too young for adoption. AACC provides all necessary food, supplies, and medication for foster animals. The ability to care for animals with special needs and transport to veterinarian appointments may be needed. Time commitment varies depending on the needs of the animals, ranging anywhere from a few days to a few months. Click here to apply to become a foster family today!
