Farnsworth Avenue will be improved from Sheffer Road to Mountain Street including the installation of new water main, storm sewer, replacement of the triple culverts at Indian Creek with a new pre-cast deck beam bridge, raising of the street profile to alleviate flooding, roadway reconstruction and resurfacing.
Improvements at the Aurora Transportation Center (ATC), that will improve safety and access, alleviate congestions, connects existing underutilized parking lots, connects surrounding neighborhoods and transit-oriented developments (TODs) and existing Regional Fox River Trail around the ATC transit station will begin Spring of 2018. The proposed project limits extend along Broadway Ave. from Spring St. to the north ATC Entrance and will include the renovations of the current ATC parking lot, relocation of the existing Pace bus point, intersection improvements, and construction of pedestrian bridge. The project is support by Federal funding from the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning's (CMAP) Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Grant Program (CMAQ). Local support are provided by the City of Aurora and Kane County Forest Preserve District, with in-kind supports from Fox Valley Park District, Pace, IDOT, Metra, and BNSF.
The City of Aurora is issuing a Request for Qualifications (“RFQ”) to IDOT Prequalified Engineering firms for construction engineering services for the Aurora Transportation Center (ATC) Enhancement Project.
