The Community Development Division collaborates with community partners, residents, and elected officials to identify and implement public programs and capital projects that address community development and housing needs for low and moderate income residents.
Community Development Block Grant funds are granted directly to the City of Aurora to assist low to moderate income persons who earn 80% of the Chicago-Joliet-Naperville Area Median Income or below.
Annually, the City engages the public in a process to craft a one-year action plan for the use of HUD funds, based on the priorities and goals outlined in the 5-year Consolidated Plan.
This program offers a up to $5,000 in a forgivable loan to persons or families with household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Family Income ($83,350 for a four person household in 2022) to help pay down payment and closing cost to purchase a home within the City limits.
