  2. Community Development Block Grant

    Community Development Block Grant funds are granted directly to the City of Aurora to assist low to moderate income persons who earn 80% of the Chicago-Joliet-Naperville Area Median Income or below.

  3. Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant

    The City of Aurora received $1,574,100 in Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funds (EECBG) funds, from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

  4. Illinois Assist Mortgage Credit Program

    This program, which can be used with a variety of home loan products, offers down payment and closing cost assistance of up to 3% of the home loan amount to eligible first-time buyers.

  5. Investment Partnership Program (HOME)

    HOME is provided by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide decent, affordable housing for low income individuals.

  6. Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP)

    The City of Aurora received $3,083,568, through the federal Housing and Economic Recovery Act (HERA) of 2008 Neighborhood Stabilization Program to acquire and redevelop foreclosed properties, reducing incidents of abandonment and blight within our community.

  8. SmartMove Program

    Offered by the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), this program offers both loan and closing cost assistance geared primarily to first time home buyers.

  9. Using Federal HUD Funds

    Annually, the City engages the public in a process to craft a one-year action plan for the use of HUD funds, based on the priorities and goals outlined in the 5-year Consolidated Plan.

This program offers forgivable loans of $3,000 or $5,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance to persons or families earning at or below 80% of the Kane County Area Media Income purchasing a home within the City limits.
