Garage & Yard Sales

The City's Zoning Ordinance limits garage and yard sales in the following manner:
  • Garage and yard sales are permitted, but only two times per year per property. Violators may be ticketed.
  • Each sale may last no longer than three consecutive days.
  • Merchandise is limited to residential-related products.
  • Merchandise should not be placed on city owned property, e.g. the parkway (the area between the street and sidewalk).
  • If there is no sidewalk, items for sale should be placed at least 12 feet from the edge of the street.
  • Signs should not be placed on parkways, telephone poles or traffic directional signs.
  • Temporary signs on private property are permitted.
  • Improperly placed signs on parkways may be removed and disposed by the City.

Permit

No city permit is required, but by adhering to these standards, garage and yard sales can be conducted in a compatible manner with the residential character of neighborhoods.
