Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training is a program that has been proven to be extremely beneficial for all communities. CERT teaches you what you need to do before, during and after a disaster so you are better able to take care of yourself, your family and your neighbors. It has been used nationwide and can be just as beneficial here. During CERT Training you will learn:
  • Basic First Aid
  • Fire Behavior
  • Fire Extinguisher Use
  • Light Rescue Techniques
  • Terrorism

The Aurora CERT Team

Individuals that complete CERT Training can apply to become a member of the Aurora Cert Team. The team receives additional training and provide support for parades, RiverEdge Park events and available to assist during emergencies. This team trains monthly to stay current in their skills. There are 4 different training class series from which you can choose. They are mainly on different days to accommodate schedules as much as possible. You only need to complete one series, but you must attend all the classes in a series.

Class 1

6 Thursdays and 1 Saturday

Thursdays: January 25, February 1, 8, 15, 22,  and March 1 from 6:30-9:30 pm
Saturday, March 3 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Class 2

6 Tuesdays and 1 Saturday

Tuesdays: April 3, 10, 17, 24, and May 1 and May 8 from 6:30-9:30 pm
Saturday, May 12 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

These classes are open to adults and teenagers. Teens 16 to 17 years of age may attend with an adult or with a signed release form from a parent. Teens 14 to 15 may only attend with a parent or guardian. Priority will be given to Aurora residents first.


There is no cost to students.
