Look for information this year at our Audubon Information Center in the clubhouse for those of you looking for ways you can help in this process. Coming soon is the Annual Bird Watch. This tends to be a good time to take a bird inventory at the golf course as they return for a new season.
2009 Certified Audubon Golf Course
The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Course is an award
winning education and certification program that helps golf courses
protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of
golf. By helping people enhance the valuable natural areas and wildlife
habitats that golf courses provide, improve efficiency, and minimize
potentially harmful impacts of golf operations, the program serves as
vital resource for golf courses.
During the month of March we conduct controlled burns to our native
grass areas on the golf course. This is a process that requires a permit
along with favorable weather and wind conditions. This process tends to
knock back weed populations and clean up any dead plant matter and
return it back to the soil.
