Better Employment Outcomes Initiative
Our Mission
We actively work to connect local high school students with impactful summer internship and research opportunities. Our commitment lies in empowering young minds in our community, with a special focus on those from underserved backgrounds, by facilitating meaningful experiences that can shape their career trajectories.
We specifically seek out individuals and firms such as university professors, business owners, and non-profit organizations to act as mentors for local high school interns and researchers. Their unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent fuels our initiative.
Our efforts also extend to actively reaching out to local high school students, especially those in disadvantaged communities. We listen to their aspirations, identify their areas of interest, and facilitate connections with opportunities that align with their passions and goals.
As a result of our ongoing collaborations, we have successfully generated more than 30 internship and research positions with professors at esteemed local institutions like Waubonsee Community College, Aurora University, and various local firms. These opportunities serve as stepping stones for students to gain real-world experience and insights.
For the students we couldn't directly match with local opportunities, we provide personalized support. This includes assisting them in building impressive resumes as well as crafting compelling cover letters. We have helped these students acquire remote internships and research positions with mentors at a variety of firms, ranging from small startups to institutions like Google and Northwestern.
Our proudest achievement lies in the nearly 50 local students we've assisted annually. These experiences not only enrich their academic journeys but also empower them to pursue their dreams with newfound confidence.
We invite you to be a part of our ongoing commitment to nurturing talent, making opportunities accessible to all, and unlocking the boundless potential within our youth. Together, we're shaping the leaders of tomorrow and building a brighter future for our community.
