Aurora's newest historic district includes the homes on Palace Street between the Riddle Highlands and Tanner Historic Districts. They feature examples of Victorian, Bungalow, Four Square, and Prairie style homes, and one Sears mail order home. They are an important part of Aurora's history because they reflect the house type of the late 1800s and early 1900s in which the average Auroran lived. The current residents of the area petitioned for the historic designation to preserve these houses so that people 50 years from now would be able to see how Aurorans lived at the turn of the century.
