The meetings of the Planning Commission can last a little as 30 minutes or as long as 5 or 6 hours depending on the number or complexity of agenda items and the AMount of public testimony. Three unexcused absences in 1 year are generally grounds for dismissal from the Commission.

Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC)

In order to maintain and implement the City's Comprehensive Plan some examples of what the Commission is empowered to give recommendations on are: Comprehensive Plan revisions, and plans for the present and future development or redevelopment of land within the City, permits, zoning, and more. The Commission is also an appeals board that reviews zoning issues as prescribed in the Aurora Zoning Ordinance, including proposed variations from the zoning code.
