Dozens of vendors offering the freshest local produce and tasty, locally produced baked goods, cheeses and much more return to the Aurora Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to noonthis Saturday, June 10 at the Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway.
FRESH PRODUCE AND TASTY FOOD
Entering its 105th season, the oldest farmers market in Illinois will again offer early-season fresh-picked asparagus, lettuces, onions, greens, rhubarb and a wide variety of other produce, all locally grown including some producers right in Kane County. Vendors will also offer Old World breads, cheeses, local honey, macaroons and other French pastries, wild-caught fish and free-range beef, chicken and Berkshire pork. Plus enjoy lots of great food from toasty empanadas to grilled homemade bratwurst and donuts from Dick’s Mini Donuts.
FRESH FIRST PROGRAM
For even more healthy living, patrons can stop by the Fresh First table and learn about initiatives to make the freshest food available to all of Aurora’s residents. That includes the Fresh First produce prescription program, adding free fruits and vegetables into children’s diets in partnership with VNA Health Care, and our SNAP/Link Card double-value program. Residents can use their SNAP/Link Card at Aurora’s Farmers Market and get double the dollars to spend on qualifying food.
... AND MORE
There’s plenty more to offer for families, too. Get your face painted, or sign up for summer reading on the Aurora Public Library’s bookmobile. And find great deals on plants for the yard from the Fox Valley Garden Club. In addition, patrons who ride their bicycles can take advantage of the complimentary Bike Valet, which includes a bike check-up at no charge, courtesy of All Spoked Up, downtown Aurora’s full-service cycle shop.
