In honor of some of the eldest and youngest members of our community, Mayor Richard Irvin is hosting a birthday party to celebrate those who are 100+ years and those who have celebrated their first birthday this year.
The Mayor's 1 & 1 Birthday Party - recognizing Aurorans celebrating their one century birthday and their one year birthday - will be held at 1p on Tuesday, July 25 at the Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave. The celebration includes cake, balloons, photos, activities and special gifts for the guests of honor.
"As I've traveled throughout the city these past couple of months, I've met some amazing centenarians who are full of wit and wisdom," said Mayor Irvin. "We want to honor our elders and our young ones at the same time. From those who are celebrating their first year to those who are celebrating their first century, we are one Aurora."
Working with some of Aurora's senior living facilities, the City has gathered a group of centenarians who will be honored and is asking the public to submit others who have or will turn 100 years or more at any time during 2017.
Parents of children with first birthdays between January 1- July 31, 2017 are invited to attend the birthday celebration. Children celebrating first birthdays for the remainder of the year will be honored at the 2018 party.
To register a centenarian or a one-year old for the Mayor's 1 & 1 Birthday Party, call the Mayor's Office at 630-256-3010 or email [email protected] by Thursday, July 20 at 5p.
