[ARCHIVED] Heritage Board Announces College Scholarships

Scholarship REcips

Applications for the annual scholarship provided by the Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board (AHHAB) are now available. Beginning this year, AAHAB is collaborating with the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley (CFFRV) to process its scholarship applications.

Candidates for the scholarship must be a high school senior or a student currently enrolled in college, of Hispanic American descent, a resident of Aurora or a student at a school located in the City of Aurora. In addition applicants must also be in good academic standing with a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Scholarships will be offered to students who will attend an accredited institution of higher education on a full-time basis between July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019.

Application information is available online at

The deadline for submission of a completed Application Form is Monday, February 5, 2018 by 4 p.m. All applicants are asked to send a confirmation email to [email protected] upon completion of the CFFRV application.

Selected applicants will be notified via email on June 1, 2018, and the awards presentation will take place at the AAHAB's Annual Community Breakfast.

"The Annual Community Breakfast was traditionally held on the last Friday of January each year," said AHHAB Vice President Ashley Martinez. "A primary focus of the event is to recognize scholarship recipients. AHHAB has changed the date to better align with the CFFRV's scholarship timeline. Scholarship winners will be able to be recognized at the community breakfast, which will now be held during the summer."

For more information regarding the scholarship application process, contact the CFFRV 630-896-7800 or [email protected].
