The City of Aurora recently achieved a major technological milestone by successfully migrating its onsite public administration financial system to the highly-touted cloud-based platform, Central Square Technologies, formerly known as Superion.
“As part of the City of Aurora’s first-ever technology strategic plan, the overhaul and modernization of the city’s financial system marks a major accomplishment since its initial implementation twenty-five years ago,” said Michael Pegues, Aurora Chief Information Officer.
Aurora will benefit through efficiency with business intelligence, integrated systems across the municipality, integrated disaster recovery, increased productivity workflow, self-service tools, and improved web and data security. The project duration lasted 9 months and involved external consultants and City staff from various departments, including Information Technology, Finance and Development Services.
“The completion of this initiative is monumental for Aurora,” said Mayor Richard C. Irvin. “Thanks to the hard work of our team, this migration will directly benefit our residents, businesses and city departments through more transparent data sharing and enhanced access to public services.
Central Square is managing the City’s public administration financial system in a secure cloud ecosystem reinforced with superior security guarantees.
A recent success story in Douglas County, the fifth-most populous county in the state of Kansas, saved time and money with Central Square’s finance solution. After going live with the solution, Douglas County immediately saw significant progress and savings, including fewer paper copies, improved collaboration, and easier access to shared information. Staff particularly benefited from not having to enter information from paper forms.
“Our goal is to do the best work in the most efficient and fiscally-responsible manner for all involved, said Aurora Chief Financial Officer Martin Lyons. “The migration to Central Square will help us in the process.”
