[ARCHIVED] Downtown Parking Lot Construction Begins

Lot E

The City of Aurora will begin the reconstruction of Parking Lot E - located just east of Broadway between New York St. and Galena Blvd. - on Monday, August 26.

During construction, the parking lot will be closed for public use and access to the rear entrances of the buildings bordering the lot will be intermittently suspended throughout the process.

Motorists who routinely use Lot E are encouraged to use Parking Lot M, which is located across New York directly across New York Street behind the Aurora Fire Museum, or nearby on-street parking.

“We’ve received overwhelming support from the businesses on Broadway that have rear access to the lot,” said Chief of Staff Alex Alexandrou. “Improvements will make the lot more inviting and accessible for those patronizing businesses in downtown and attending events.”

The project is part of a comprehensive downtown economic development and improvement plan. Reconstruction will include adding a second access point off New York Street, removing interior islands to create better traffic flow, removing the metallic façade along the back of the buildings, consolidating all garbage bins in one covered location and add additional LED lighting to better illuminate the lot.
