[ARCHIVED] A New Restaurant Joins the Downtown Renaissance

Craft Urban Profile

Building upon the restaurant revival happening in the City of Lights, CRAFT URBAN, a popular eatery in Geneva, plans to open its second location in downtown Aurora.

Craft Urban Cocktail is a contemporary urban neighborhood restaurant that will be located at 41 S. Stolp Ave. at the corner northwest corner of Stolp and Downer, across the street from Charlie’s Ice Creamery - bringing the old Assell Building back to life!

The plan includes:

• GROUND LEVEL will be the Craft Urban restaurant, a 2,800 sq. ft., 100 seat dining room accented with rustic brick. The bar/kitchen area will have 10 seats with a custom made communal table, cocktail tables, and inviting banquet-style seating

• OUTDOOR SEATING will be available the currently vacant lot next to the building which will be redeveloped as a recreational area where local artists can also perform.

• TOP LEVEL will occupy four 700 sq. ft. one-bedroom contemporary apartments that would rent for approximately $900 each.

Craft Urban creator and owner Chef Bernie Laskowski, who lives in Aurora, brings more than 25 years of experience to the project. In addition to his Craft Urban restaurant in Geneva, Laskowksi has operated kitchens in high-end establishments such as Marche, The Everest Room, Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, Bin 36, and the Park Grill in Millennium Park.
