RECYCLE HAZARDOUS HOUSEHOLD WASTE FOR FREE THIS WEEKEND IN AURORA
Illinois residents can safely recycle household hazardous waste materials for free this weekend in Aurora.
The Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Drive-Thru will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, in downtown Aurora at 309 N. River St.
Participants must register for a time slot.
Hosted by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, Kane County, and DuPage County in collaboration with the City of Aurora, the no-contact drive-thru is free and open to all residents of Illinois.

All approved waste materials must be clearly labeled, safely packaged, and placed in trunks or backseats where volunteers will collect it upon entry at the site.
APPROVED ITEMS: Acids, Adhesives, Aerosol Products, Antifreeze, Auto Fluids, Ballasts (PCB), Batteries (sump, power tool & household sizes, no automotive or lead-acid batteries), Blacktop sealer (oil-based), Cleaning Products, Cooking Oil, Corrosives, Drain Cleaners, Fluorescent Bulbs (tubes and CFLs), Gasoline (and oil/gas mixtures), Glues, HID Lightbulbs (headlight bulbs), Hobby & Photo Chemicals, Lawn Chemicals, Medications (no controlled substances), Mercury-Containing Devices (thermostats, etc.), Motor Oil, Oil Paint (Oil-based paints, stains, varnishes only, no latex paint), Paint Thinners, Pesticides (poisons, herbicides, insecticides), Pool Chemicals, Resin, Solvents
UNAPPROVED ITEMS: Latex Paint, Acetylene Cylinders, Agricultural Wastes (anything used in a commercial application to grow something that will be sold), Ammunition, Biological & Medical Wastes (biohazards), Business & Commercial Sector Wastes, Explosives or Fireworks, Farm Machinery Oil, Fire Extinguishers, Foam Cylinders (Part A/Part), Institutional Wastes, Lead-Acid Batteries (auto batteries), MAPP Gases, Oxygen Tanks, Pharmaceuticals (controlled substances), Propane Tanks, Radioactive Material, Smoke Detectors, Syringes & Needles.
No business, institution, or agricultural waste is allowed.
