AURORA POLICE INVESTIGATE SUNDAY EVENING SHOOTINGS, ALL APPEAR TO BE UNRELATED
The Aurora Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance for information and video to help detectives in their investigation of three separate unrelated shootings on Sunday evening that left one man in critical condition and a woman in stable condition.
Just after 9:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Inverness Drive and McCoy Drive for reports of a vehicle shot. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle with several bullet holes and shell casings along McCoy Drive. During the preliminary investigation, officers learned the victims were driving eastbound on McCoy Drive when another vehicle pulled up alongside them, began firing shots, and then took off in the other direction. Thankfully none of the bullets hit any of the people inside the vehicle and no one was injured. Detectives believe that this shooting appears to be a targeted incident.
Then in an unrelated incident, officers were called to the 1000 block of Symphony Drive, just after 9:30 p.m., for a report of a woman shot in the shoulder while she was sitting in a vehicle outside of a home. The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. At least one bullet entered a nearby home and was lodged into a couch. No one else was injured. Detectives and Evidence Technicians responded to the scene to collect evidence and canvass the neighborhood.
Then in a third unrelated incident, officers responded to reports of a man shot, just after 11:00 p.m., at a bar in the 200 block of East Galena Blvd. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition but is expected to survive. Detectives and Evidence Technicians responded to the scene to collect evidence and interview witnesses. The initial investigation shows this appears to be a targeted shooting.
None of the incidents on Sunday evening appear to be related and all remain under investigation by detectives.
