[ARCHIVED] Mayor and First Lady Honored for Years of Service

IMG_0961

During the Committee of the Whole Meeting on Tuesday, May 2, the Aurora City Council and community surprised Mayor & Mrs. O'Connor as they honored them for serving as Mayor & First Lady for the last six months.

After aldermen spoke about their experiences working with Mayor O'Connor as he wore two hats - mayor and alderman - the commemorative street sign was unveiled.

The real honorary street signs - Mayor Robert and Mary O'Connor Way - will be installed on the 100 block of S. Commonwealth Ave where the O'Connors have lived for 42 years!

Mayor O'Connor will begin his 9th term as Alderman-at-Large next week and many of Mrs. O'Connor's former students still remember her fondly from her 30+ year teaching career, primarily at Bardwell Elementary School.

Congratulations and thank you, Mayor O'Connor and First Lady O'Connor!
