Currently, the Aurora Fire Department maintains a fire protection rating of "Class 2" though the Insurance Service Office.

3. I have several old cans of paint, solvents and thinners. How can I safely dispose of household-generated hazardous materials?

The facility is located just north of the Department of Public Works building at Fort Hill Drive and Jefferson Avenue at:

It will operate on Saturdays and Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., excluding holidays. Materials may not be dropped off outside these posted hours.

Naperville operates 1 of only 4 permanent drop-off locations for household hazardous waste in the state in cooperation with the City of Aurora and Will, DuPage and Kane counties. Since 1992, the program has operated out of Fire Station Number 4 on the City’s north side. During Fiscal Year 2014, the City collected 266 tons of household hazardous materials, including the following and more:
- Anti-Freeze
- Cleaning Products
- Fertilizers
- Flammables
- Herbicides
- Oil
- Paints
- Prescription Medications

4. Where can I get fire extinguishers refilled?

The Fire Department does not service or refill fire extinguishers. Look in the Yellow Pages under fire extinguishers or fire extinguishing systems.

5. I need help installing my child's car safety seat. Who should I call?

The Aurora Fire Department has certified car seat installers. You may call them at 630-256-4000 to set up an appointment.

6. How can I arrange a tour of a fire station?

You can call the Fire Prevention Bureau for assistance at 630-256-4130. To tour a fire station or request a program, fill out the request form (PDF).

7. How much does an ambulance transport cost?

Resident fees range from $1,300.00 to $ 1420.00 plus mileage. Non –resident fees range from $1890.00 to $2,270.00 plus mileage.

8. Do you accept tattered American flags for proper disposal?

Yes, the Aurora Fire Department maintains a flag disposal box at:
