2. Municipal Electricity and Gas Use Tax Rebate Program Application

4. Now through August 31, 2023, the City of Aurora will issue rebates of municipal electricity and gas use taxes paid by seniors (age 65 and older) and disabled persons during 2022. Rebate applications and supporting documentation can be filed in the following application or filed via paper application with the City of Aurora Finance Department at Aurora City Hall, 44 East Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60507. City Hall is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

55. REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION
    The following documentation must accompany this rebate application:
57. PROOF OF AGE
    Acceptable documentation for proof of age includes a copy of a birth certificate, a driver’s license, or a state identification card. If the eligible individual qualified for a utility tax rebate by being 65 years old or more in a prior rebate year, submission of proof of age for the current rebate year is not necessary.
58. PROOF OF DISABILITY
    A copy of the Illinois Disabled Person’s Identification Card or a Social Security disability award letter will be accepted as proof of disability.
60. $25 REBATE: ELECTRICITY

    Upload a copy of the electric bill for the residence with an ending service date of December 2022. The name of the individual applying for the rebate must appear on the utility bills. Also, the bill must include all pages that reflect that the municipal electricity and natural gas use taxes were actually assessed.

61. $25 REBATE: GAS

    Upload a copy of the gas bill for the residence with an ending service date of December 2022. The name of the individual applying for the rebate must appear on the utility bills. Also, the bill must include all pages that reflect that the municipal electricity and natural gas use taxes were actually assessed.

63. REBATE FOR AN EXACT AMOUNT OF TAXES PAID

    IF REBATES OF MORE THAN THE STANDARD AMOUNTS ARE REQUESTED, upload copies of the electric and/or natural gas bills for each of month of 2022 must accompany the application. The name of the individual applying for the rebate must appear on the utility bills.
