Alderman Richard B. (Rick) Mervine

Rick Mervine has been a resident of the 8th Ward since moving his family and business to Aurora from Michigan in 1987. Since 1981, Alderman Mervine has run a marketing and management consulting practice with a focus on strategic planning to help small business and organizations grow and plan for that growth. His wife, Phyllis, works at Smith School in Aurora helping teach reading skills. Their grown daughter, Katie, recently completed her master’s degree at Northern Illinois University. Alderman Mervine was first elected in April 2009, re-elected in 2011 and 2015 and will be up for re-election in 2019.

Service and Community Involvement

During his 23 years in Aurora, he has a long history of volunteer involvement with the city, its parks, schools and his church. While a resident of Aurora, he has been a strong advocate of community involvement that continues with the establishment of the 8th Ward committee and other opportunities to add value to our community.

Alderman Mervine currently serves on the Finance Committee of the Aurora City Council and is an alternate for the Government Operations Committee. He takes an active role in many of the initiatives of our city government.
