The Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board is a non-partisan, community based advisory board that serves to act as a bridge between the Hispanic community and all other communities in the City of Aurora. The Advisory Board recognizes diversity throughout the City of Aurora and will therefore make a conscious effort to be all-inclusive.

The RAP Committee handles matters requiring city council approval pertaining to revisions to the city code, procedural rules of the city council, mayoral appointments, administrative hearings, boards and commissions, federal and state legislative affairs, intergovernmental matters outside the jurisdiction of other committees, governmental ethics and the allocation of ward project funds.

Committee of the Whole (COW) is a meeting in which two or more Committees meet together with all Committee members, up to and including the entire board. This meeting operates under Committee Meeting guidelines but allows for greater interactions between committees and board members.

The Block Grant Working Committee is established to provide direct resident involvement and oversight of the goals, objectives and resources of the Community Development Block Grant Program and other neighborhood redevelopment initiatives.

The Indian American Community Outreach Advisory Board will be meeting today at 5:30PM at the City of Aurora Customer Service Center, 3770 McCoy Drive, Aurora Il 60504.

The Advisory Commission on Disabilities (ACD) is committed to ensuring that every Aurora resident is afforded an equal opportunity to access and participate in City programs, services, facilities and communications.

The Innovation and Technology Advisory Commission is hereby established to investigate, research and gather information in relation to significant emerging technologies that may benefit and/or have an impact on the city.

The PHST Committee handles matters requiring city council approval involving public safety, including police, fire and emergency management, the number and classifications of liquor or tobacco licenses, housing, rental licensing, public transportation, including commuter rail and busing, neighborhood redevelopment, youth and senior services, customer service, waste management contracts, animal control, property standards, neighborhood redevelopment, and human and community service.

The purpose of the Education Commission is to engage in constructive dialogue with all members on information and initiatives that benefit our Aurora area residents.

In accordance with Sec. 5 ILCS 120/2.02 of the Illinois Open Meetings Act, notice is hereby given that the AURORA EDUCATION COMMISSION has changed locations from the regularly scheduled meeting that is now meeting at Waubonsee Community College-Aurora Downtown Campus, Room 160A at 2:00pm.

The purpose of the Aurora Youth Council (AYC) is to provide leadership development opportunities for Aurora youth. The AYC will assume an advisory role for Mayor Irvin and City leadership on issues related to our city’s youth population as well as be involved in conducting outreach and engagement activities to ensure young people are becoming more involved in their city.

The African American Heritage Advisory Board is a non-partisan advisory board that is community based and funded by the City of Aurora, serves to educate and act as a bridge between the African American community and all other communities within the City of Aurora.

The Human Relations Commission of the City of Aurora seeks to further understanding within our community and to preserve recognized rights of residents of the city and those who interact within the community, particularly in the areas of equal employment, housing, and access to public services and facilities.

The Finance Committee handles matters requiring city council approval pertaining to collective bargaining, personnel and civil service matters, not otherwise under the jurisdiction of the Civil Service Commission, taxation, city indebtedness, fees and service charges, risk management, purchasing policies, management of city funds, the library budget and tax levy, the city’s operating budget, pension insurance, motor fuel tax and capital budget, tax levies, development agreements, tax increment and business improvement districts, other inventive agreements, real property acquisition, and special service areas except those required by the Kane County Stormwater Ordinance and exclusive jurisdiction over all departmental budgets and matters that require budget amendments or transfers.

GAR Commission Meeting

The Civil Service Commission will be meeting today at 4:00PM in City Hall.

The Aurora Public Art Commission oversees the program, including the budgeting for the purchase, maintenance and insurance of public art owned by the city, and exhibitions and administrative costs as may be required to carry out the purposes of this division. The Commission shall establish guidelines for selection of artists, art works and sites based on the intent of this division.

The establishment of the City of Aurora’s Civilian Review Board is a result of the City’s CHANGE Reform Initiative, launched by Mayor Richard C. Irvin on June 9, 2020, following the local, national and global civil unrest and calls for systemic police reform and unprecedented racial reckoning.

Foreign Fire Insurance Tax Board Meeting

The Aurora Civic Center Authority Board is authorized by law to promote, operate and maintain expositions, conventions, theatrical, sports and cultural activities in the City of Aurora and in connection with the Paramount Arts Center.

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Advisory Board is established to represent this constituency of the City by serving as an advisory board to the city council concerning the needs of the named population.
