  1. Special Needs Resource Fair

    The Fox Valley Special Needs Resource Committee is holding its inaugural Special Needs Resource Fair on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vaughan Athletic Center, 2121 W. Indian Trail Rd. Organized by the City of Aurora, the Fox Valley Park District and the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce, the committee is hosting the fair to provide direct access to resources in the Fox Valley community for children and adults with special needs. More than 30 exhibitors will be available to discuss educational opportunities, transition programs, government services, recreational programs, legal support, employment opportunities and other services available for those with special needs.   2. Diwali Festival

    October 14, 2017, 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM @ Waubonsie Valley High School

    Aurora's Indian American Community Outreach Advisory Board will celebrate its annual Diwali Festival on Saturday, October 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Waubonsie Valley High School, 2590 Ogden Ave. Diwali is India's largest annual festival. Celebrated by people throughout India, Nepal and other South Asian countries, the festival marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. Attended by more than 4,000 people last year, Aurora's Diwali festival will feature the diversity of India's music, dance, clothing and cuisine - while also highlighting the contributions of Indian Americans locally and nationally. Waubonsie Valley High School's Cloud 9 singing group will perform the National Anthem. Bollywood-style dance groups and special presentations will entertain the crowd throughout the evening. Visitors can purchase food, clothing and jewelry. The festival will conclude with an outdoor fireworks display beginning at 8:45 p.m. The celebration is free and open to the public.
