Aurora Route 59 Parking Lot at the Metra Station

Three new driveways will be added along Meridian Lake Drive to reduce congestion in and out of the lot, and a traffic signal will be installed at Meridian Lake Drive and Station Boulevard. A reconfiguration of the parking lot will add approximately 400 new parking spaces, move the Pace bus staging area, and increase safety for pedestrians. The majority of the project is expected to be complete by the end of 2016, but minor improvements, such as new security cameras and landscaping, may continue into 2017. Commuters should expect delays, however, the station platform will remain open throughout.

Eola Road Widening

Complete roadway reconstruction and widening of Eola Road, south of Montgomery Road to Keating Drive, plus improvements to each intersection. The two-lane road will be replaced with five lanes, including a center left-turn lane, plus an 8-foot bike path on the north side and a 5-foot sidewalk on the south. Construction is expected to begin in May. Motorists should expect delays and single-lane closures, and take extra precautions around crews and flaggers. Work is expected to be complete by fall 2017.

East Galena Boulevard and East Downer Place Storm Sewer Separation

Replacement of 10,600 feet of storm sewers, 4,000 feet of sanitary sewer and 6,000 of water main along Galena Boulevard and Downer Place, from Water Street to State Street, plus side streets. Additionally the project will include pavement rehabilitation on Galena from Stolp to LaSalle, LaSalle from Galena to Downer and Downer from LaSalle to State. This project is anticipated to be complete by the end of the summer 2017.

Farnsworth Avenue Bridge

New ramp configurations, added traffic signals and a wider bridge with turn lanes and a multi-use path for bikes and pedestrians. This two-year project, run by the Illinois Tollway Authority, will require lane closures and changing traffic patterns. Motorists should expect long delays and take alternate routes when possible. Ogden Avenue/Route 34 and Canadian National Railroad Grade Separation

Construction of a new overpass, sidewalk, multi-use path, traffic signals, and retaining and noise abatement walls to improve safety and relieve train-related congestion.

Waubonsie Lake Dredging

Removal of sediment from the bottom of Waubonsie Lake. The project is expected to begin in late summer 2016 and completed by the end of 2016, with minimal effect on surrounding traffic, however, interruption in daily operations of Waubonsie Lake Park are expected.
