ComEd Working to Restore Power

ComEd is working to fix a severe power outage that has affected over 24,000 homes and businesses in the greater Aurora today. Power has been restored to the majority of the area, but a significant portion of the Aurora’s far east side is still without power. ComEd estimates that it will take up to another two hours to restore power to this service area.

The City of Aurora is monitoring the situation from its Emergency Operations Center and will report significant updates as they are received.

To prevent water pipes from freezing, the City of Aurora advises residents to turn on at least one faucet and allow the water to DRIP into an unclogged drain, especially if leaving home for an extended period of time.  

Please call Aurora’s Customer Service Center at 630.256.INFO to:

  • Request a ride to the 24-hour Warming Center
  • Request a well-being check for someone who may be at risk due to the extreme cold
  • Report inadequate heat in a residential building
  • Connect to shelter and supportive service

Customer Service Center hours have been extended until 7p tonight.
