Phillips Park Dog Park Now Open

Aurora residents can bring their favorite four-legged friend for some off-leash exercise to the new Phillips Park dog park.

Dogs will have about three acres to roam in the gated facility at the park, 1000 Ray Moses Drive. The dog park was one of several amenities constructed on underutilized land on the park’s west side during the past year, including the skate/BXM bike park, children’s splash pad, boat dock, Mastodon Trail exercise machines, a new sand volleyball court and softball field lights, fencing and an ADA accessible concourse. The park’s Mastodon Trail was extended to provide a walking path to the dog park.

The dog park will be open from sunrise to sunset daily, which is the same operating hours as Phillips Park. Owners and pets can enter the dog park facility near the west recreational area parking lot north of Pleasant Place and Parker Avenue. A second entrance is located further down Mastodon Trail about 50 yards south of the corner of Gates Street and Ashland Avenue.

Other dog park rules are:

  • Owners must pick up after their dogs in the facility.
  • Dogs must be leashed upon entering/exiting the dog park; the facility’s gates must be closed at all times.
  • The dog park is for dogs and their owners only.
  • Owners are responsible for the actions of their dogs.
  • Dogs must be vaccinated, healthy and wear a valid rabies tag.
  • Children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult while in the dog park.
  • A maximum of two dogs per owner are allowed in the dog park.
  • Dogs displaying aggressive behavior will be banned from the facility.
  • Female dogs in heat are not allowed in the dog park.
  • No food is allowed in the dog park; please keep the facility clean at all times.

The dog park also contains a secured “doggy time-out” area for owners to give their excited pets an opportunity to calm down.

For more information or to report any problems with the facility, call the City’s Customer Service Center at 630-256-INFO.
