Lt. Greg Spayth graduated from Western Illinois University in 1993 with a B.A. in Law Enforcement and a minor in Business Management.

He began in law enforcement career with the Aurora Police Department in 1999, after serving 5 years with the Wheaton Police Department. Lt. Spayth has worked in several different units within the Aurora Police Department including, Patrol, Investigations, GAVEL (Gang Violence Investigations), ATF Federal Gang Task Force and the Community Oriented Policing Unit.  

Greg was promoted to Sergeant in February 2016 and recently promoted to Lieutenant in April 2021. He currently serves as the Area 1, Second Shift Patrol Lieutenant, which oversees the west side of Aurora and is in charge of the departments Community Oriented Policing Unit.
