Kevin Talkington Bio:
Kevin Talkington has lived in the Aurora area all of his life. He was born in Aurora and attended Annunciation, Aurora Central Catholic, Waubonsee Community College, and graduated from Aurora College in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Kevin participated in sports all through school. His favorite sport was baseball. He played in Aurora Boys Baseball, played baseball at Aurora Central, and continued to play in college for both Waubonsee and Aurora College. He continued being involved in baseball as a coach for Aurora Boys Baseball, served on the Board of Directors for Aurora Legion League and North Aurora Baseball, and coached his children in North Aurora Baseball. He was recently honored by being inducted into the Aurora Boys Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019.
Kevin taught Physical Education in the East Aurora School District his whole career until retirement in May, 2019. During this time Kevin coached football, baseball, and track at the high school and at Waldo Middle School. He was the athletic director at Waldo Middle School for 25 years. He was also P.E. Department Chair and served on the district’s P.E. Curriculum Committee. Kevin has been influential in the organization of the Aurora Sports Festival since it began in 1995.
Kevin began working as the City of Aurora’s Youth Sports Coordinator in 2020. As Youth Sports Coordinator, Kevin strives to use his passion for athletics to strengthen partnerships with area organization to promote after-school programs, enrichment activities, and sports competitions for Aurora’s youth. Kevin is happily married to Amy and they have 3 grown children, Kyle, Kelsey, and Kayla.
